Senior Adults
Our Senior Adult ministry exists to meet the needs and interests of senior adults within the congregation and in the community. Lena Vista Baptist Church recongizes the importance of our Senior Adults, the ministry they bring to our church family and community. We strive to meet the needs through acknowledging, respecting, loving, and ensuring the ministry of our senior adults makes a significant impact both in how we can best minister to you as well as your ministry to us. Our free monthly breakfast meeting, held the last Saturday of the month at 9:00am, brings informative speakers, entertainment, recreation, good food, and fellowship. Charlene Kilpatrick & Jeri Tew lead our Senior Adult Ministry team.
Wheels on the Bus - Van Ministry
Lena Vista Baptist Church is blessed to have two passenger vans. Each week our vans go out into the neighborhoods and pick up children and adults who otherwise would not be able to enjoy worshipping with us. Should you desire or have a need to use our van ministry as your transportation to and from our church services please contact the church office. Larry Nelson is our Transportation Ministry Director.
Loaves and Fishes Food Ministry
"I was hungry and you gave me food." Matthew 25:35
Our church has been blessed to be able to provide food free of charge to families in need in the Auburndale area. Our goal is to provide the Good News of Jesus Christ. Loaves and Fishes is another way we are able to make an IMPACT for the Kingdom. How are we able to do this? We purchase food from the Agape Food Bank in Lakeland as well as received donations from several sources. We encourage our congregation and community to help by providing financial donations. Each Tuesday at 9:00am members of the church gather in the Fellowship hall for a time of prayer and preparation. We pray for the families who will come and allow us minister to them. We open our doors at 10:00am. We try to provide enough food for three days for a family of four. Individual families may pick up food once a month. Patricia Osborne is our Loaves and Fishes Director. We are an equal opportunity provider.
Missions
Jesus commands us to go and make disciples of all nations. We desire to be a church conitunally on mission. Some of our past projects have included Lawn care for the elderly, providing lunch to the staff at Lena Vista Elementary school, helping at the Florida Baptist Childrens' Home, and serving hot dogs and cold drinks at the local park. In 2010 we are stretching our church in that we will embark on a fresh mission emphasis with the addition of World Changers ministry. June 21st - 26th we will send a group of 25 to Durham North Carolina. We are always looking for ways to serve God and our community.
